A Girls Night In
One of the things I’ve been most excited about our latest remodel is that we have so much more room for our events. I’ve always wanted to open our space to my fellow female small business owners and host a night for us to gather, connect, and most importantly - relax and have fun! Last Thursday, we opened the boutique after hours and hosted our very first Girls Night In - an intimate evening of women who inspire.
For the first of what I hope to be many events, I joined two speakers whose brands have been with Prism since day one and whose stories really inspire me.
I first met Kristen of PF Candle Co. before our doors even opened, when we spent almost two hours going over all the different scents of her candle line. I was super impressed by her knowledge and passion for her product and placed my very first order of 12 candles. We sold out at our opening party, of course, and Prism now stocks over 200 PF Candle Co products on our shelves. Kristen has gone from hand pouring candles in her living room to being sold at West Elm, Target and Urban Outfitters, as well as her own website.
In the year that Prism first opened, I was inspired by the designs and visual content created by Kayti of MATE the Label. I followed her brand closely and was beyond excited when they offered their first wholesale collection of graphic tees. I can still remember pouring over every detail of the T-shirt’s and selected my favorites, and have been carrying her brand since! Her company’s slogan “Give a Damn” and her infectious passion for creating ethical, high-quality goods in her hometown of Los Angeles clearly sets her above and apart from her competitors. We can’t wait to see what the future holds for her brand and you’ll find me wearing her tees often.
Not only were we inspired by their stories of growing their brands to where they are today, but to learn that these fellow women business owners went through similar challenges, obstacles and fears that I have was highly inspiring. Often we see the outside of a business through it’s branding and marketing, but to hear that Kayti and Kristen dealt with the same day-to-day challenges of actually running that business was so refreshing for me. We ended the night with some questions from our audience, some more mingling, delicious cupcakes from Frosted Cupcakery and gift bags for all our guests.
A big thanks to our speakers, Kristen and Kayti, our moderator Linda, and all the women who took the night off to join us. It was so amazing to meet and mingle with so many like-minded business women and I feel so blessed to do what I do.
