Celebrating Pride with @fannykahlo

We’re celebrating Pride Month by connecting with one of our favorite LGBTQIA creators, and humans, Fanny aka @fannykahlo. Based in Los Angeles, she’s an inspiration to her community and everyone lucky enough to know her. We talked to Fanny about identity, self-expression, and the causes she cares about.

Tell us a little bit about yourself.

My name is Estefania, but most people call me Fanny. I’m a proud first-generation Mexican living in Los Angeles, California. Professionally, I work in media relations for Spinelli Kilcollin, where I get to connect with a wide range of people in the creative world.

In my free time, I love exploring local farmers' markets, hunting for treasures at thrift stores, and catching live music shows. I find joy in learning and healing, especially with my partner, Vivian, a talented photographer born and raised here in LA. Spending quality time together is something that really grounds me.

What advice would you give to someone struggling with their identity?

If I had to give advice to struggling with their identity, it would be to do a lot of self-affirmations, release that fear, and be unapologetically yourself because, at the end of the day, you are the one who matters.

How has your identity shaped who you are?

My identity has shaped who I am through just continuing to always evolve. Evolving in the way that I dress, the way that I self-express, the way that I live loudly and proudly.

What LGBTQIA+ issues are most important to you?

One current issue that is very important to me and has always been important to me is trans rights. It is the ability to be freely who you are without constantly feeling like you're being persecuted and living with fear. And these are causes that are always gonna matter to me.

How will you be celebrating Pride?

I’ll be celebrating Pride by being with my partner Vivian, walking around, being gay together, and making people uncomfortable.

To get to know Fanny more, give her a follow on IG. We’re so grateful to her for sharing her voice, her story, and her heart with us. Happy Pride, from our community to yours.
